AMD Ryzen 7 8700G, Ryzen 5 8600G, Ryzen 5 8500G, Ryzen 3 8300G AM5 Specs and Release Date Leaked

AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 8000G “Phoenix” desktop APU family specifications and benchmarks recently leaked. Featuring both Zen 4 CPU and RDNA 3 GPU architecture, these chips promise huge performance gains over current APUs.

The flagship is the 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 8700G with 4.2GHz base and 5.1GHz boost clocks. The 6-core Ryzen 5 8600G clocks in at 4.35 base and 5.0 boost GHz. Both chips use the high-end Phoenix 1 die and enable overclocking.

The 6-core/12-thread Ryzen 5 8500G and 4-core/8-thread Ryzen 3 8300G utilize the more mainstream Phoenix 2 die, lacking manual overclocking but still featuring Precision Boost Overdrive. Their CPU clocks reach up to 5.0 and 4.9GHz, respectively.

35-watt “GE” variants of each model will also release, though with slightly lower frequencies to meet the lower power target.

While previous-gen desktop APUs relied on aging Vega graphics, these new chips utilize cutting-edge RDNA 3. This brings over 2.5x the gaming performance based on early 1080p game benchmarks. The 8700G and 8600G include 12 and 8 RDNA 3 compute units, while the lower Phoenix 2 models make do with only 4.

Real-world tests show the Ryzen 8000G outperforming the older Ryzen 7 5700G by 100% or more in games, thanks mostly to the modern RDNA 3 graphics. Performance in CPU-bound scenarios remains more similar between generations.

AMD slated these chips to start selling on January 31st, though general availability won’t arrive until February 11th. Pricing remains unannounced for now. But with over twice the graphics power plus the latest Zen 4 CPU cores, even premium costs over older APUs could prove justified for budget gamers.

With specs now confirmed, anticipation will continue building leading up to the 8000G’s launch early next year. Their unique combination of modern processing and graphics in singular chips should appeal to a wide swath of desktop builders seeking well-rounded performance on a budget.
