Leaked: Intel Arrow Lake-S Shows a 5% Increase in ST and 15% in MT Performance

According to an AnandTech forum thread where a user named uzzi38 shared an Intel slide. While not revealing much new information, the slide confirms Intel’s performance targets for the upcoming Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs.

For context, Arrow Lake-S will use a new LGA-1851 socket and launch in the second half of 2024. Since Meteor Lake-S was canceled, Intel’s partners are releasing refreshed Z790 boards this year with Wi-Fi 7 support instead of new Z890 chipsets.

According to the leaked slide, Arrow Lake-S is projected to deliver 5% higher single-threaded performance and 15% better multi-threaded performance on average compared to Raptor Lake Refresh. This aligns with details previously reported by Igor’sLAB in July.

The next-gen desktop and mobile platforms will use new Lion Cove and Skymont microarchitectures for Performance and Efficient cores respectively. They will leverage Intel’s 20A process and Xe-LPG GPUs based on Alchemist, which are expected to be at least 2x faster than Xe-LP.

While the CPU gains look incremental, the initial Arrow Lake-S lineup will likely have a similar 8P + 16E core configuration as Raptor Lake. However, Intel plans to launch a Refresh with double the E-cores later on.

The slide also mentions Battlemage discrete GPUs, suggesting they will be ready for Arrow Lake-S. Overall, while the CPU improvements appear modest, major graphics gains are expected with the new Xe-LPG architecture and Battlemage GPUs.
